CHOBABI NUT BUTTER “PERFECT MATCH”

Nut butter and Greek yogurt is a pair that goes great together. So why not talk about this perfect match as a love story? That’s what Chobani and Lobo brought to the table to promote the brand’s line of Greek yogurt paired with almond, cashew and hazelnut butters.

The film portrays this irresistible combination as a sweet, heartfelt – and slightly absurd – love story between a Cow (representing yogurt) and an Almond (the nut butter). The tale of their relationship is told through a series of animated portraits hanging on the walls of a cozy living room, showing various stages of their romance – from how they first met to their wedding to growing old together.

Even with this nonsensical premise the spot feels warm and intimate, with an ambiance that reminds us of grandma’s house. This was conveyed through a carefully, lovingly crafted scale model set of the living room, rich in details that suggest a lived-in place full of memories of a happy life together.

It all started with concept artwork of the living room, establishing all the visual details and mood of the setting. Our CG team then started to model the furniture pieces while the fabrication crew built the scale model of the room in our stop motion studio. The CG furniture was then 3D-printed, painted and finished before being added to the scale model. As the stop motion team put the final touches to the setting, a CG replica of the living room was created on the computer and used to create a previz of the camera animation. The camera data was then exported to our motion control rig, which performed the exact same camera moves around the physical model of the living room. Finally, the footage was brought back into our computers for post-production and the addition of 2D animated clips of Cow and Nut inside the picture frames.
